Filmmaker Raymond Wong Begins Jail Sentence for Insider Trading
Veteran Hong Kong filmmaker and actor Raymond Wong Pak-ming has commenced a five-month prison sentence for insider trading. The 80-year-old informed West Kowloon Court on Wednesday that he would serve his time while awaiting an appeal in the High Court. Wong was convicted last month for sharing confidential information concerning Transmit Entertainment, a television series production company.

Wong informed the West Kowloon Court on Wednesday of his decision. He will serve his sentence while awaiting the outcome of an appeal filed with the High Court.
His conviction, which occurred last month, stemmed from allegations of sharing insider information related to Transmit Entertainment. Transmit Entertainment is identified as a television series production company.
According to South China Morning Post, Wong has been a notable figure in Hong Kong’s film industry for several decades.
