Asteroid Named After Hong Kong Firefighter Killed in Deadly Blaze
An asteroid has been named in honor of Ho Wai-ho, a 37-year-old firefighter who died in Hong Kong's deadliest blaze in decades. Ho Wai-ho was killed last November while assisting residents during the Wang Fuk Court fire in Tai Po. Amateur astronomer William Yeung Kwong-yu, a Hong Kong-born former president of the Hong Kong Astronomical Society, designated asteroid 34871 to commemorate Ho's sacrifice, a move his fiancée described as turning him into an eternal "star."
