Barney Stewart, a 22-year-old striker, has officially transferred from Falkirk to West Bromwich Albion. His departure sees Falkirk lose a player who has accumulated 20 senior goals across 50 appearances, 32 of which were starts.
Stewart initially joined Falkirk, then in the Scottish Championship, in early 2025 from East of Scotland League side Heriot-Watt University, scoring twice. He then spent the first half of the 2025-26 season on loan at second-tier side Dunfermline Athletic, where he scored eight goals. He was recalled to Falkirk, then a Premiership club, and added 10 more goals between January and May.
His senior goals include a double for Dunfermline in a Challenge Cup defeat by Queen of the South. For Falkirk, he scored his first senior hat-trick in a 4-1 Premiership victory against Hibernian in late January, followed by a double in a 5-1 win over Kilmarnock in late February. He also contributed two assists in the Scottish Premiership, resulting in 10 goal involvements in the league during the second half of last season.
Stewart has been capped twice by Scotland Under-21s. West Bromwich Albion is also the former club of Scotland head coach Steve Clarke. According to Yahoo Sports Soccer, Stewart has shown himself to be an effective attacking presence.
