The Billy Jones Forever Foundation has been established a year after the passing of New York City nightlife figure Billy Jones. The foundation aims to celebrate his life and legacy by offering a scholarship and mentorship fund to emerging music professionals. Recipients will receive direct financial support for expenses such as relocation, housing, equipment, and travel, alongside long-term mentorship and access to an industry network.
A new foundation, the Billy Jones Forever Foundation, has been launched to honor the life and legacy of Billy Jones, a notable figure in New York City nightlife. The announcement comes approximately a year after Jones' death last June at the age of 45 due to glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
The foundation introduces a scholarship and mentorship fund designed to provide annual support to emerging music professionals. This initiative offers direct financial assistance, which can be used for various needs including relocation, housing, equipment, and travel. Beyond monetary aid, recipients will also benefit from long-term mentorship and opportunities to connect with an established industry network.
Billy Jones was known for his diverse roles within the music and nightlife scene, serving as a musician, curator, club owner, and manager. He co-founded and owned Baby's All Right, a Brooklyn indie venue with a 280-capacity that opened in 2013. The venue hosted performances by numerous artists, including SZA, Cypress Hill, Lil Yachty, Blood Orange, Charli XCX, Mac DeMarco, James Murphy, David Byrne, Hot Chip, Courtney Barnett, Willow Smith, Jack White, and Billie Eilish.
Donations to the Billy Jones Forever Foundation are currently being accepted, and scholarship applications are open. The foundation operates as a fund under Make Something, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
According to Billboard, the foundation seeks to continue Jones's commitment to supporting creative individuals in the music industry.
