Cuisillos Achieves No. 1 on Regional Mexican Airplay Chart with ‘Aunque Me Duela’
Cuisillos has reached the No. 1 position on Billboard's Regional Mexican Airplay chart with their song “Aunque Me Duela.” This achievement marks the group's first chart-topper on a national U.S.-based Billboard chart since 2007, ending a 19-year gap between their leading hits. The track, released on April 24, also earned Greatest Gainer honors for its significant audience increase.
Mexican group Cuisillos has secured the No. 1 spot on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart with their song “Aunque Me Duela.” This marks their first return to the top of the chart in 19 years, making it their second No. 1 on a national, United States-based Billboard chart.
“Aunque Me Duela” led the June 20-dated list after surging three spots. The track, released on April 24 via Apach/Cuisillos, also received Greatest Gainer honors, awarded weekly to the song with the largest increase in audience within the format. The song garnered 6.2 million impressions during the June 5-11 tracking week, representing a 30% increase week over week.
Cuisillos previously hit No. 1 on the same chart with “Mil Heridas,” which held the top position for two weeks in June 2007. In the intervening years, the group reached a No. 3 peak on Regional Mexican Airplay with “Vive y Déjame Vivir” in 2008.
Formed in 1987 in Cuisillos, Jalisco, Mexico, the group is recognized for its Native American-inspired stage outfits. Cuisillos has logged four top 10s among 26 career entries on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, with “Cartas Marcadas” becoming their first top 10 in December 2001. Their first appearance on the chart was in March 2000 with “No Se Lo Digas a Ella.”
Beyond the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, “Aunque Me Duela” also climbed from No. 11 to No. 4 on the Latin Airplay chart, which monitors airplay across more than 150 Latin-formatted radio stations in the U.S. This marks the group’s second top 10 on that survey. Fueled by this radio performance, Cuisillos also made its debut on the streaming, airplay, and sales-based Hot Regional Mexican Songs chart, where “Aunque Me Duela” entered at No. 22.
