Eater Earns 18th New York Emmy Nomination for 'The Experts'

Eater has secured its 18th New York Emmy Award nomination within a nine-year period. The 2026 nominations acknowledged an episode from the platform's series, "The Experts," in the Magazine Program — Single Program category.

The nominated episode, "New York's Best Porchetta Comes From This Tiny Suburban Deli," highlights Chef Angelo Competiello. Chef Competiello operates Alta Irpinia, a deli shop located in Suffern, New York, where he prepares various dishes, including his acclaimed porchetta. The episode delves into his porchetta-making process and his extensive knowledge of pork, which stems from his childhood experiences working in local pork shops with his father.

In addition to porchetta, the featured episode showcases other items available at Alta Irpinia, such as fresh mozzarella, described by Competiello as "the core of the store," along with multiple types of pizza, traditional meatballs, and unique inventive sandwiches.

The production team for the episode included Tom Daly, who served as producer, shooter, and director. Stefania Orrù co-directed, and Murilo Ferreira also directed the segment. Bill Vella was responsible for production sound, and Howie Burbidge handled the editing.

Eater's video team has a history of Emmy recognition, having previously won five New York Emmy Awards, including victories in 2021 and 2022. The team also received nominations in 2024 and 2025. The winners for the 2026 New York Emmys are scheduled to be announced on Saturday, October 10.
