Elephant-Sized Sauropods Exhibited Unique Hind Leg Standing Capability
Research indicates that two elephant-sized sauropod species from South America were exceptionally well-suited for standing on their hind legs. Digital tests performed on these dinosaurs' anatomy revealed that their robust femurs were capable of handling significant forces, particularly during their younger years, surpassing the strength observed in larger sauropod species. This upright posture is theorized to have provided various advantages, including reaching high treetops, deterring predators, or impressing potential mates.
