Rapper Fat Joe is set to lead a hip-hop-themed float at the New York Knicks championship parade on Thursday, June 18. The float, curated by Knicks owner Jim Dolan, will feature numerous acclaimed artists, including Wu-Tang Clan and Mary J. Blige. This celebration follows the Knicks securing their first championship since 1973 on Saturday, June 13.
Rapper Fat Joe has revealed plans for a star-studded hip-hop float to be featured in the New York Knicks championship parade. The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, following the Knicks' recent NBA championship victory.
Knicks owner Jim Dolan reportedly tapped Fat Joe, a courtside fixture during the team's playoff run, to curate the musical float. The Terror Squad rapper made the announcement during an appearance on SportsCenter on Wednesday, June 17.
Fat Joe indicated that the float will showcase a lineup of prominent hip-hop and R&B artists. Confirmed guests include Wu-Tang Clan, Jadakiss of The LOX, Mary J. Blige, Fabolous, Mobb Deep, M.O.P., Remy Ma, Q-Tip, Ja Rule, and Yung Miami.
The New York Knicks secured their first championship since 1973 on Saturday, June 13, by winning game five against the San Antonio Spurs. Fat Joe was notably present at every road playoff game throughout the postseason.
The championship parade is slated to commence at 10 a.m. ET in Battery Park, New York City. It will proceed through the Canyon of Heroes before concluding with a ceremony at City Hall. The ceremony is also expected to feature a performance of "Empire State of Mind" by Alicia Keys.
According to Billboard, Fat Joe expressed immense excitement for the event, describing it as a "hall of fame of hall of fame" moment for the hip-hop community and the city.
