Google Releases Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 for Pixel Testers
Google has initiated the release of Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1, making it available for Pixel device testers. This software update provides an initial glimpse into the changes expected with Google's Q4 2026 Android release. Support for this beta begins with the Pixel 6a and extends to later Pixel devices. Notably, the original Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro models are not included in this testing phase.
Google has commenced the rollout of Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1, which is now accessible for Pixel testers to install. This software is described as offering the first preview of the modifications slated to be integrated into Google’s Q4 2026 Android release.
Device compatibility for Android 17 QPR2 Beta 1 includes the Pixel 6a and all subsequent Pixel smartphone models. However, the original Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not supported in this beta release. This marks a shift from previous QPR1 builds, which encompassed devices from the Pixel 6 onwards.
The exclusion of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro from this beta aligns with the anticipated five-year mark for these devices, which is expected in October. This information was confirmed by Mishaal Rahman on X.
According to Android Authority, while many Android users await their first experience with Android 17, Pixel owners engaged in Google’s testing community are already exploring future updates.
