Google Tests AI Mode Button for Chrome Toolbar
Google is reportedly testing a new AI Mode button that could be integrated directly into the Chrome toolbar. This feature, observed in Chrome Canary for both desktop and Android, aims to provide users with a quick shortcut to AI functionalities. Clicking the button is designed to open a dedicated side panel alongside the current webpage, enhancing accessibility to AI tools within the browser.

Google is currently exploring the addition of an AI Mode button to the Chrome browser's toolbar. This new shortcut is intended to offer users a more direct way to access artificial intelligence features.
Upon clicking the prospective AI Mode button, a side panel is expected to open, displaying AI functionalities alongside the user's currently active webpage. The feature's development has been observed in testing phases on both desktop and mobile versions of Chrome Canary.
Previously, Google has implemented several methods for accessing AI Mode, including a dedicated tab within Search, shortcuts in the omnibox, and an option in the search bar when opening a new tab page. The potential toolbar button signifies an additional effort to make AI features more prominent and readily available to users.
Windows Report initially spotted this optional AI Mode button within the desktop version of Chrome Canary. Further observations confirmed its presence in Chrome Canary for Android as well.
