Jeff Bergman has been cast as the new voice of Mr. Potato Head for "Toy Story 5." He assumes the role previously voiced by the late Don Rickles.
Don Rickles, a pioneering insult comedian, launched his stand-up career in the 1950s. He was a frequent guest on television, notably making many appearances on "The Tonight Show" from the 1960s up until his death in 2017.
When Rickles was originally cast as Mr. Potato Head, he portrayed the character largely based on his well-known loudmouth and insulting stage persona. The writers of the first "Toy Story" film even incorporated a direct reference to his comedy act. This included a scene where Mr. Potato Head famously asked a toy hockey puck, "What are you looking at, you hockey puck?" The term "hockey puck" was a common, nonsensical insult Rickles often used.
According to Polygon, Bergman will now bring a new voice to the iconic character.
