Kunal Kohli, an Indian filmmaker recognized for his work on 'Hum Tum' (2004) and 'Fanaa' (2006), has made his international directorial debut with the British English feature film 'All About Her'. Production for the film was completed in June.
The cast of 'All About Her' includes Hollywood actor Nick Sagar, known for his role in 'The Princess Switch' film franchise, and British actress Amelia Gething, who has appeared in 'Emily' and 'The Spanish Princess'.
In a recent interview with Bombay Times, Kohli discussed his experience, stating that directing an English film with a British and international crew marks a new chapter in his life. He expressed that Shekhar Kapur has been an inspiration and hopes this endeavor encourages more Indian filmmakers to work globally. Kohli also mentioned that the experience was rewarding despite English not being his first language.
He further added that filming in the UK with British actors and crew offered significant creative freedom. The direct interaction with actors helped him bring the characters to life as he had envisioned, in sync with Amelia Gething and Nick Sagar. Kohli noted that the actors placed their trust in him despite him being new to their industry.
'All About Her' is produced by Sheetal Parab. A first-look teaser poster was released on June 5, described as 'A haunting psychological drama where love, guilt and identity blur into one dangerous truth'. The makers reportedly plan to premiere the film at various festivals prior to its general release.
Kohli's career began as a film critic in the 1990s and included hosting the TV show 'Chalo Cinema'. He debuted as a feature film director with 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' (2002) and went on to direct other films like 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic' (2008) and 'Teri Meri Kahaani' (2012). He also produced 'Break Ke Baad' (2010). In 2018, Kohli ventured into Telugu cinema with 'Next Enti' and later that year debuted as an actor in his production 'Phir Se', which was among the first Indian films to be released directly on Netflix. More recently, he directed OTT releases 'Lahore Confidential' (2021) and 'Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story' (2025).
