Manchester United Pursue West Ham's Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes
Manchester United is reportedly targeting Crysencio Summerville, a left winger, and Mateus Fernandes, a midfielder, from recently relegated West Ham. This potential "double raid" is part of United's summer transfer strategy, which includes plans for a significant midfield rebuild. Summerville, a Netherlands international, was recognized as the Championship's Player of the Year in 2023-24, while Fernandes is also attracting considerable interest from various clubs.
Manchester United has reportedly shown interest in signing Crysencio Summerville and Mateus Fernandes from West Ham, following the club's recent relegation. Summerville, a left winger, and Fernandes, a midfielder, are under consideration as part of United's summer transfer window activities.
Summerville, a Netherlands international, joined West Ham from Leeds two years ago for £25 million. He was named the Championship's Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season and scored his first goal for his country in a 2-2 World Cup draw against Japan. Despite scoring in five consecutive games for West Ham in January and February, his efforts were not sufficient to prevent the club's relegation.
Mateus Fernandes is also attracting significant interest, with United viewing him as a potential component of a broader midfield rebuild. The club is reportedly nearing a deal for Atalanta's Brazil international Ederson, valued at £35 million, as a prospective first summer signing.
Additionally, Manchester United faces a decision regarding Marcus Rashford, a left winger, who may return to Old Trafford if Barcelona does not exercise their option to buy him. Despite a potential return, Rashford might still be subject to a transfer.
According to Yahoo Sports Soccer, these moves are part of Manchester United's ongoing efforts to strengthen Michael Carrick’s squad for the upcoming season.
