Nagoshi Studios' Future and *Gang of Dragon* Development Appear Uncertain
Recent developments suggest a precarious future for Nagoshi Studios, founded by former *Yakuza* series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi, and its debut title, *Gang of Dragon*. The studio's primary funder, Chinese giant NetEase, previously withdrew commitments, followed by its YouTube channel vanishing and website going offline. Further indicators include Toshihiro Nagoshi being listed as merely a "game creator" in Famitsu magazine and co-founder Daisuke Sato updating his social media profile to indicate "ex-" involvement with the studio.

Nagoshi Studios, founded by former *Yakuza* series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi, appears to be facing significant challenges regarding its future and the development of its debut title, *Gang of Dragon*. The game was initially revealed at The Game Awards.
Early signs of trouble emerged after the studio's primary funder, Chinese technology giant NetEase, reportedly withdrew further financial commitments. This was followed by the temporary disappearance and reappearance of Nagoshi Studios' YouTube channel, which eventually led to its official website going offline.
More recent information from print and social media further suggests the studio's uncertain status. The 40th anniversary issue of the Japanese video game magazine Famitsu included congratulatory messages from various Japanese game creators, including Toshihiro Nagoshi. However, Nagoshi was listed simply as "game creator" rather than being attached to a specific studio, according to a report by Automaton.
Additionally, social media user Wario64 highlighted that Daisuke Sato, co-founder and director of Nagoshi Studios, updated his Twitter profile to indicate his involvement with the studio as "ex-." These combined details suggest that Nagoshi Studios may be defunct or operating under severe limitations.
Consequently, the prospect of *Gang of Dragon* being released as a big-budget, AAA title, as initially envisioned, appears increasingly unlikely. The situation at Nagoshi Studios reflects a broader trend of contraction within the game industry, which has seen numerous studios shuttered.
