Ohio Woman with Disabilities Alleges Abuse in Nursing Facility
Jennifer Kucera, an Ohio resident living with spinal muscular atrophy, depends on Medicaid-funded providers for her daily care needs. She has detailed a past experience in a nursing home where she claims to have suffered from scabies, physical assault, and sexual assault. Kucera highlighted that such incidents should not occur in environments intended to provide protection and care.

Jennifer Kucera, a resident of Berea, Ohio, lives with spinal muscular atrophy and requires continuous care from Medicaid-funded providers. This support assists her with essential daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and navigating her life.
Kucera has reported experiences from a previous nursing home, located just three blocks from her current residence. During her time there, she alleges she contracted scabies, was physically assaulted, and sexually assaulted.
Reflecting on these alleged incidents, Kucera stated, "These are all things that really shouldn't happen in a place where you're supposed to be protected."
