The creators aim to weave a narrative inspired by contemporary societal anxieties.

Oni Press is preparing for the release of its new high-concept sci-fi comic, 'The Forever Home,' which is scheduled to debut on September 9. The series features Christian Ward as writer and artist, collaborating with artist Sami Kivelä.
The narrative centers on infamous billionaire scientist Henry D'mour, who, instead of attempting to save the world from a climate apocalypse, constructs an extravagant 'Forever Home' for his wife and two children. This ark provides luxury and modern conveniences, insulated from the dying planet outside its walls. Inside, only twenty minutes pass for every year in the external world, allowing the D'mour family to slowly implement their plans for a new world while protected by automated environments and robotic companions. The plot intensifies when a 'childish misstep' accidentally breaches the home's barrier, leading to external forces seeking re-entry.
Christian Ward commented that the horror within 'The Forever Home' was inspired by increasing news stories about a changing world and extreme weather. He noted the ease of imagining people pushed to the brink of survival and the belief in conspiracies about billionaires building bunkers for an imagined apocalypse. Oni Press Editor-in-Chief Sierra Hahn described the comic as "haunting, prescient, and an unforgettable look into the future of the world."
'The Forever Home #1' will be released on September 9.
