Ribbie.tv has debuted as a novel platform for watching live baseball games, presenting them in an 8-bit broadcast format. The website processes live MLB data streams, transforming them into pixel art gamecasts that update in near real-time.
The developer behind ribbie.tv indicated that the project is still in its nascent phases. Despite this, the platform already incorporates several detailed features, including distinct stadium designs, dynamic day and night modes, inter-inning graphics, and functional live scoreboards, enhancing the retro viewing experience.
Upon its presentation, ribbie.tv showcased a schedule of games, including matchups such as Mets @ Reds, Royals @ Nationals, Marlins @ Phillies, Tigers @ Astros, and Padres @ Cardinals, among others. The platform also listed an additional 14 games scheduled for later in the day, demonstrating its capability to cover multiple concurrent events.
The project aims to cater to fans seeking an alternative, visually distinct way to follow live baseball action, combining modern data streams with a classic aesthetic.
