Russell Martin has been appointed as Leicester City's third permanent manager in under a year, signing a three-year contract. The club is preparing for League One football following their relegation from the Championship last season. Martin's appointment comes with a track record that includes leading Southampton to the Premier League in 2024 through the Championship play-offs, though he was later sacked four months into their top-flight campaign.
Russell Martin has officially been named Leicester City's new permanent manager. This appointment marks the third permanent managerial change for the club in less than 12 months. Martin has signed a three-year contract with the Foxes.
Leicester City is set to compete in League One during the upcoming season, having been relegated from the Championship last season. Martin's immediate task will be to guide the club from English football's third tier.
Prior to joining Leicester, Martin led Southampton into the Premier League in 2024 after winning the Championship play-offs.
