Snap has officially launched its new augmented reality (AR) glasses, known as Specs, targeting the consumer market. The announcement was made at the Augmented World Expo 2026. These glasses are available for pre-order starting today, with a price tag of $2,195.
The Specs are equipped with two Snapdragon processors, indicating advanced capabilities. A substantial number of Lenses are already available for the device, suggesting a ready ecosystem for users. The design of the new Specs is described as improved and more subtle compared to Snap's previous AR glasses generations.
This consumer-focused launch follows Snap's earlier release of developer-focused AR glasses in 2024. The company's previous venture into wearable technology included Snapchat Spectacles, which were simpler sunglasses featuring integrated cameras, akin to the Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
According to Android Authority, the new Specs are priced nearly three times higher than the Ray-Ban Meta Display glasses.
