The Simpsons Assets Added to Fortnite UEFN for Player-Made Games
Epic Games and Disney have announced that The Simpsons will be integrated into the Fortnite Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) program. This initiative will enable players to develop "fully authentic" games utilizing officially licensed characters and settings from the iconic animated series. This partnership follows a previous successful collaboration that brought Star Wars assets to UEFN. Last year, a Fortnite x The Simpsons crossover event reportedly attracted 80 million unique players, significantly boosting Fortnite's player base.

Epic Games and Disney have confirmed that "The Simpsons" is being added to the Fortnite Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) program. This expansion will allow players to create "fully authentic" games within Fortnite, featuring officially licensed characters and settings from the popular animated show.
This marks another collaboration between Epic and Disney, building on their previous partnership that introduced Star Wars assets to UEFN. The tools for integrating "The Simpsons" are expected to become available later this year. Specific limitations for creators have not yet been detailed, though similar programs, such as the Star Wars integration, included restrictions like prohibiting the use of assets for political purposes.
Many fans anticipate that creators will attempt to remake the 2003 game, "The Simpsons: Hit & Run," using the new UEFN tools. Fans have expressed interest in a remake or re-release of the game for several years.
Ray Gresko, head of Disney Digital Entertainment, shared with Variety that past experiences, like the Star Wars IP toolkit, showed that providing developers with assets like characters, worlds, and visual language allows their passion to translate into "surprising, creative, and engaging experiences." He added that the companies are eager to observe what creators will develop with the Springfield assets.
According to GameSpot, the decision to add "The Simpsons" to UEFN follows a highly popular crossover event last year, which engaged 80 million unique players and contributed to a significant increase in Fortnite's player population.
