Brazilian mixed martial arts star Alex Pereira has publicly accused Frenchman Ciryl Gane of landing "illegal shots" during their recent fight for the interim UFC heavyweight title. The bout took place at the White House.
Pereira claims to have sustained blows to the back of his head during the contest. Following these alleged infractions, Pereira has urged UFC President Dana White to remove referee Herb Dean from his duties.
Gane secured the interim UFC heavyweight title in the second round on Sunday. He initiated the finish by sending Pereira stumbling with a right jab, followed by a hammer fist. The referee officially stopped the fight at 1 minute 27 seconds into the second round after Gane landed a left to the chin.
