Dead by Daylight Players Discover Counter-Strategy for New Killer Jason Voorhees
Jason Voorhees has been introduced to Dead by Daylight (DBD) following the game's 10th-anniversary stream, contributing to a new concurrent player record. His unique ability, "Omnipresent Evil," allows him to warp across the map, making him a formidable opponent that some players consider overpowered. A key strategy for survivors to evade Jason's detection during his invisible movements involves consistent crouch-walking.

Jason Voorhees has been introduced to Dead by Daylight (DBD) shortly after the game's 10th-anniversary stream. His debut has been met with significant player engagement, contributing to a new concurrent player record for DBD. Some players have expressed the view that Jason is currently overpowered, and developer Behaviour may consider adjustments to his power level.
Jason's unique ability, known as "Omnipresent Evil," allows him to rapidly traverse the map, appearing suddenly to surprise survivors. During this warping process, Jason becomes invisible to survivors. However, he can detect their movements by seeing red footprints, similar to scratch marks, or by observing a red cloud if survivors remain stationary. This means activities like repairing generators, destroying totems, or standing still can make survivors vulnerable to detection.
A recommended counter-strategy for survivors against Jason's "Omnipresent Evil" is crouch-walking. This method prevents the creation of visible footprints and avoids generating a red cloud when not moving, effectively keeping survivors invisible during Jason's ability use. Additionally, if Jason respawns near a crouch-walking survivor, they may avoid the jumpscare effect and the activation of his Killer Instinct.
Survivors are advised to either encourage teammates to adopt a similar cautious approach or distance themselves from more reckless players when facing Jason. The "Urban Evasion" perk, associated with the character Nea Karlsson, can enhance crouch-walking speed by up to 100%, further aiding this evasion tactic. Although players do not know the killer's identity before a trial, Jason's current popularity suggests he is a frequent opponent.
