Two-time Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard withdrew from the race's first Alpine stage on Sunday following a crash. The incident occurred hours after he underwent a doping control at 2 am. Vingegaard, who also won the Giro d’Italia this year, is expected to undergo collarbone surgery in the coming days. Meanwhile, Remco Evenepoel claimed victory in Stage 15, outsprinting Tadej Pogacar.
Jonas Vingegaard, a two-time Tour de France winner, crashed out of the race during its first Alpine stage on Sunday. The incident took place only hours after the Danish cyclist was reportedly woken at 2 am for a doping control.
Vingegaard sustained injuries in the fall, which occurred as the main peloton exited a roundabout in Bonneville. He was observed with his right arm in a sling before entering a race ambulance. He is scheduled to undergo collarbone surgery within the next few days. This year, Vingegaard also secured a victory in the Giro d’Italia.
In the same Stage 15, Remco Evenepoel secured a stage victory. Evenepoel reportedly outsprinted Tadej Pogacar to claim the win.
