Private Healthcare in Mexico Receives High Marks from Foreign Patients, Survey Finds
A recent survey of over 700 foreign residents in Mexico indicates high satisfaction with the country's private healthcare system. The inaugural MND Mexico Healthcare Experience Survey™ revealed that 92.9% of respondents rated their private medical care as either "excellent" or "good." Key positive aspects noted included personalized care, direct communication with doctors, and ease of access to specialists across various cities.
The inaugural MND Mexico Healthcare Experience Survey™, developed to quantify the experiences of foreign private healthcare patients in Mexico, has released its findings. The survey was created to address healthcare concerns often cited as reasons for hesitation to move to or spend more time in Mexico.
A headline finding from the survey indicates that 92.9% of respondents rated the quality of private healthcare received in Mexico as "excellent" or "good." This reflects a strong endorsement of the country's private healthcare system, accessed by survey participants across Mexico.
Respondents expressed positive surprises regarding their private medical care experiences. Notable aspects included the level of personalized care, direct access to doctors and specialists, and efficient communication, such as receiving test results via WhatsApp. Many highlighted doctors spending more time listening to concerns and the ease of securing specialist appointments.
A total of 714 individuals participated in the survey, having received healthcare in various locations nationwide. The top five cities where respondents accessed healthcare were San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato (16.4%); Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco (12.4%); Guadalajara, Jalisco (6.6%); Mexico City (5.2%); and Mérida, Yucatán (4.5%). Additionally, one-third of respondents received care in locations not listed among the 24 cities in the survey.
Participants reported utilizing a wide array of medical services, including mental health consultations, emergency room visits, and cosmetic procedures. The most commonly used services were dental care (83.5%) and blood work or lab tests (82.5%).
