'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' Set for Las Vegas Sphere in 2027

Fans of 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' can anticipate the film's arrival at the Las Vegas Sphere in 2027. Sphere Entertainment, in collaboration with Primary Wave Music and 20th Century Studios, announced the special arrangement on Tuesday (June 16).

The company plans to utilize its advanced technologies to enhance the original 1975 film for the massive venue. This process mirrors the treatment given to 'The Wizard of Oz,' where AI was employed to expand visuals for the curved, 160,000-square-foot screen. It also involved digitally restoring images to "ultra-ultra-high-definition" using an AI-powered "super resolution tool" with Google's assistance. Additionally, "composites" of characters were added to some scenes where they were initially absent due to the expanded canvas.

Jim Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of Sphere Entertainment, stated that Sphere Studios is developing original experiences that push technological and storytelling boundaries while maintaining an audience-centric approach. He noted that 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' redefined audience participation and became a cultural phenomenon upon its 1975 premiere, adding that Sphere offers an opportunity to elevate that immersive spirit.

Separately, Sphere Entertainment also announced on Tuesday that 'The Wizard of Oz' at Sphere has generated over $400 million in ticket sales, with more than 3 million tickets sold since its debut at the venue on August 28, 2025.
