Croatia Legend Suker Predicts Luka Modric's Return to Real Madrid Post-World Cup
Croatia football legend Davor Suker has indicated that midfielder Luka Modric will return to Real Madrid following the conclusion of the World Cup. Modric is currently completing his season with Milan, having signed a one-year deal last summer with an option for extension. Suker's comments, made to Radio Marca, suggest a move back to the Spanish club, though the exact nature of his return remains unspecified. This speculation arises amidst Milan's failure to qualify for the Champions League and the recent sacking of their coach.
Croatia football legend Davor Suker has indicated that midfielder Luka Modric will return to Real Madrid after the upcoming World Cup. Suker, a former striker for the La Liga giants, shared his insights with Radio Marca on Wednesday, stating, “Surely, he will return, but I don’t know how.”
Modric is currently finishing his single season at Milan, having joined the club last summer on a one-year agreement. The deal included an option for the Rossoneri to extend his stay for an additional campaign. Despite Milan technically being able to activate this option, it is contingent on Modric’s agreement to remain at San Siro.
Recent developments at Milan, including the club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League and the sacking of coach Massimiliano Allegri, have led to various rumors regarding Modric's future, with some speculating about his potential retirement at the end of the season.
When pressed on whether Modric’s return to Real Madrid would be in a playing capacity, a management role, or as part of José Mourinho’s backroom staff, Suker remained tight-lipped. “I can’t say more, I can’t say more. Leave something a bit in the air; I can’t say it all,” he commented.
During the 2025-26 season with Milan, Modric made 37 appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
